This year has been heavy, probably the heaviest many of us have experienced. So, let’s just take a step back from the craziness and uncertainty of 2020 and focus on the good that is so close. Christmas is now just 2 days away, so turn off the work calls and turn on the Christmas carols. Take a break and just breathe, spend time with the ones you love (even if it is from afar, 6 feet away). Remember the reason for the season, it isn’t about the presents or the lights or who has the most put together family Christmas card. It’s about the birth of the Savior, so celebrate that! Take this season to celebrate life, light, and joy. Spread love to everyone you meet and give some extra grace during this time. 2020 has been one heck of a year and it may be harder on others than it is on yourself.
Even if you cannot be in person with the ones you love, try and still keep those traditions as alive as possible. Zoom, facetime, or spend time outside in lots of blankets and coats. I know this year Christmas is nothing like we want it to be, and I am sorry. But know that this one Christmas is just a blip in all the years of your life, and if switching up how Christmas is done will keep your loved ones around a little longer, it will all be worth it.
So, to the girl who wishes you a merry little Christmas, merry Christmas and happy holidays for whatever you may celebrate! Know that this Christmas is an odd one this year but put on those Christmas jammies and make some new memories with the ones you love. Enjoy this Christmas with those you are with and I’ll see you for the new year!
